MISSION
Hi there,
I’m Ben, and this is a little blog I’m starting for our mission at MADE.
Before we get into it, I want to ground this in what we mean by mission.
And we also recognize there’s a difference between mission and purpose.
To me, purpose is more about what we naturally are day to day. It’s what we already carry—what we possess as a community and as a brand. It’s the energy, the identity, the thing that exists whether we try to define it or not.
Mission is different.
Mission is directional. It’s about the problems we’re choosing to solve.
So today, we’re talking about mission.
And I want to share a few ideas I’d like to point to. Not as something rigid or fixed—because this is a community, and feedback is always welcome—but as a starting place.
Because a mission should always be grounded in a problem.
And here are a few of the problems I believe MADE is trying to solve for queer men.
The first is simple: there isn’t clear, easy access to a holistic wellness space for queer men.
By holistic, I mean a space where you can bring all of yourself—your sexuality, your body, your questions, your fears, your growth. A place where you can talk about what you’re going through, learn from other queer men, be mentored, and feel like you’re actually in community with people who get it.
That space is rare. And for a lot of us, it doesn’t exist at all.
So we’re building a digital one.
The second problem is loneliness.
Being queer can be an isolating experience. Maybe your family doesn’t fully know you. Maybe you don’t feel understood. Maybe you’ve just never had a consistent group of people who reflect you back to yourself.
There’s something powerful about having a kind of brotherhood—or simply a community—in your pocket. A place you can go where you’re reminded: you’re not alone. There are people on the other side who care, who understand, who are like you.
And then there’s the third problem.
Sex is a real and important part of being a queer man. It’s one of the things many of us have in common. And spaces like Grindr and Sniffies exist for a reason—they serve a need, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
But when that becomes the only way we connect, something gets lost.
We start to flatten each other. We stop seeing the full human. We reduce connection down to a single moment, instead of asking what else might be possible.
MADE isn’t here to replace those spaces. It’s here to offer an alternative.
A space where sexuality can be part of the conversation—but not the only one. A space where connection can deepen, where other parts of us can come forward, and where something more meaningful can actually unfold.
That’s what we’re building.
Stay Well,
